I have severe problems with acne. I haven't grown out of it, I doubt I ever will. There isn't a day I'm not in pain, physically and/or mentally. It's not always terrible, but it's a constant in my life.

I'm having to go back on a medication I really didn't want to do again. It's not that I had any adverse effects or anything, but I really don't want to have to be doing this again, having my blood drawn every single month. I suspect the first time I was on it set in motion my near phobia of having my blood drawn, because I can't stopping myself from passing out, no matter what I do. Passing out scares me, and therefore, having blood drawn scares me. Add to that, that this will totally cause havoc with my class schedules since I go to school away from home, the future isn't looking all sparkly for me.

I've tried. There are no other options left. This is the only thing that's possibly going to make me feel better. I'm just very unhappy right now. I hate that my genetics are so seemingly screwed up that it's caused this much upset for me my whole life.

I'm going to go curl up in a ball in the corner now...

Aww Hun! :( *huggles* I am so sorry!! I know what it's like having medical stuff going on--it's been 17 years of doctors and pills and shots etc trying to find out what's wrong with me and we're still no closer:( So I completely understand *huggles again* If you ever need to talk Hun I'm just an email away.

*huggles you*

Isn't there a possibility for you to get a doctor near your school to draw your blood and let the lab send the results to your doctor at home who is familiar with your case and you just call him about the results? Maybe take Alex or another of your roomies with you for support for the drawing? I know this is possible in Germany. Or at least has been when me and my ex-boyfriend spend the summer at his mother one year and I had a test due during that time. I only had to call my doctor two days later.

I know it is not easy to adjust to a new doctor, especially not for you, I assume, but maybe this is a better solution than having to miss classes or work your schedule around your monthly doctor's appointments.

And we already talked about the passing out thing. I'm just happy that I only pass out during the summer and am sorry that none of my "tricks" work for you.

I hear you! Life is shite when you got health problems! Have you tried going on the contraceptive pill? Then all you have to do is have your blood pressure checked every six months? Its worked for a couple of people I know!

I have the problem to and I'm in my 30s!

What are they going to start you on, hun? I'm going to be starting on birth control and have some topical stuff I use for it.

Feel free to contact me off list if you want. (((Hugs)))

You know I was just thinking that for my problem the stuff they put me on was also used for acne. Have they put you on the pill? I've been on just about every birth control out there so I can give you an idea of side effects etc. Everyone is different, but sometimes it's better to hear side effects from people you know instead of the side of the box.

What about Diane 35? Have you tried that? There are also various forms of Ortho out there...different strengths suited to however much you need. At the moment I'm on depo provera, which is a shot once ever 3 months. It's not used for acne...tho I'm not sure what exactly the cause of your acne is--have you gone to a specialist??

Just curious because I know that for the longest time I was just letting my family doctor play guinea pig with me before I finally said enough is enough and asked to see a specialist.

I've never had bad acne, but there was a while when I was younger when I had a lot of it--not the normal acne, just one more side effect of whatever is wrong with me--the doctors put me on Diane 35 and gave me a topical treatment. The topical worked great, the only side effect being a sensitivity to sun and a slight burning when applied. Other than that there were no major side effects.

Sorry I'm rambling and you can tell me to just shut up if you want. I was just sitting here thinking back and remembered the meds for acne and wanted to mention them just in case your doctor hasn't mentioned them to you.

Again *huggles* anytime you wanna talk hun just drop a line.

Before all this, I was already on one name or the other to try to regulate my cycle. Currently, I'm on Seasonel (sp?). I don't have problems with the pills, side effects wise. It's just that they aren't enough for my acne.

--> Aw:( I'm sorry Hun. Have you tried Tri-Cyclin? It's a very strong BC and according to the package can also be used to treat acne.

If you mean dermatologist, then yes. Was there this morning, in fact, which spurred all this in the first place. *g*

-->Aw *huggles*

I'm really bad off. I've tried several topicals, but mine is just too widespread, I can't get to all of it to treat. *sigh*

-->*huggles again*

No problem at all! It means a lot that you cared enough to think about it. *snuggles*

-->I wish there was something I could do/say hun. But I will keep everything crossed for you that the doctors figure out a treatment for you. *huggles*

Aww *warm huggles* I understand your fustration with dealing with acne. I'm 21 and it looks like I'm going to have it for the rest of my life too. Have you tried birth control pills? That's my next option.

Ergh, I hate that you're feeling this way. If you need anything, don't hesitate to ask me, hon. Much love to you.

If there's anything I can do... Could you get a doctor in Montgomery? That might make your schedule issues a wee bit easier... If you did, I could go with you for moral support... Last year I went with Jenny K for every one of her shots, just to have someone there... She nearly broke my hand a few times, but it's all good... and I'd be more than willing to be there for you. You shouldn't have to go this alone!

Gah, and down with genes! They've never done anyone any good... we should just get rid of them all together.

*more hugs*

Stupid dad genes. It's always his fault... *g*

I agree... gah. Dad genes are teh suck.

And don't worry about putting me through you passing out. It's all good. It's just a lot more upsetting passing out when you're by yourself. Anything I can do to make things easier, just say it and it's done! *big goofy smile*

Seriously.

*hugs* I understand. I haven't grown out of acne either, but luckily it's not painful. I tried going on some medication but it was giving me migraines. The doctor actually told me, "You'll get used to it." At that point I gave her the finger, shoved the pills in the trash, and opted to just deal with the acne by trying to minimize it. I feel lucky that I'm able to do that.

*BIG HUGS*
