New Fishie

This is Mike, my new Betta. He's named after my current Discovery Channel crush. *g*
He is a spunky little fish. Despite how he may seem in this photo, he's actually pretty small, about half the size Jubal was. I guess he's a baby. I got him as a new friend for Jubal, but my poor boy never got to know him. *sigh* Anyway, he seems to like his new home as he's build a HUGE bubble nest. :)

Jubal died this afternoon.
It was sudden, though not completely unexpected. I'd been gently encouraging recovery for several days now, but I guess he felt it was time to stop fighting. He died in my hand. This all really upset me, especially as I had just gotten him a tank buddy to hopefully perk him up.

You were the most beautiful fish I'd ever seen, Jubal. Thank you for sharing your spunk with me for the last year. I love you...

My fish, Jubal, and I had nice birthdays yesterday. We went shopping for hangers and other essentials just to get out of the house. We went to the pet store to play with the reptiles, but they were all asleep! But they were cute in their sleepiness, so it was still fun. And later, we watched new House and NCIS. Funness.
Well, I did all that. Jubal just... swam around a lot. *g*

Kavan died sometime last night.
He'd been sick a while. The last thing I said to him before turning out the light on the tank for bedtime was that I hoped he got better, but it was okay to let go if it's what he wanted. He apparently felt it was his time.

April 20th, 2007 02:10 pmThis morning, I fed my fish Betta pellets as I usually do before class. Well, Kavvy was so excited, he attacked the food like he does when he nips my fingers. He got the food in his mouth, but it got stuck to his upper lip! He tried to bob his head to make it come loose, but to no avail. He then opened his mouth really wide, like he does when he yawns, and wiggled a little, but still no luck. He finally got it down with the help of a pebble...
