I just saw Serenity again. I took notes this time! To express my full experience, I'll talk about both viewings through something I like to call...

Serenity: The Smiley Experience

+ Friday, September 30, 2005 - OMGSERENITYIT'STODAYIT'STODAY!!!
+ I have my ticket!
+ In my seat, ready for the movie to start...
+ Guy with sword is teh creepy. I shall call him Sword Guy because I like that better than "The Operative."
+ Seeing the ship for the first time made me cry both viewings. It's so pretty!! And the music? OMG! There had better be a soundtrack... EDIT: There IS one! *dies*
+ I love Nathan's hair, but I still find it odd that it's parted oppositely than it was on the show.
+ I miss Mal's other pants.
+ Serenity in the movie is all blue-shiny. It was more brown-shiny on the show.
+ Alex and Cassa, when Zoe was driving the mule trying to get away from the Reavers, she ran into a tent or something. I swear I heard chickens squawk!
+ Simon is all bitchy.
+ River: "He didn't lie down. They never lie down." I know what that means now! I flailed a bit with the epiphany.
+ I am of the firm belief that in the sequel, Mal should walk around shirtless for its whole duration. I mean... GUH.
+ I love Mal telling Zoe she has to come rescue him if he gets into trouble.
+ I give Inara some major points for actually trying to fight Sword Guy as he's kicking Mal's butt. And then the incense?
+ *wibbles over Book*
+ Nathan should never be allowed to make that face.
+ Seeing Serenity all made up like a Reaver ship breaks my heart.
+ Mal is insane.
+ Wash is so awesome.
+ Serenity crashing and being torn apart made me cry. Almost as much as...
+ WASH!!!!!!!!!
• My reaction upon first viewing:
• My reaction upon second viewing:
• So, first time I saw the movie, I was naively optimistic that Wash wasn't really dead, so just wibbled and sort of went into shock. The second time, however, was much worse. When he started piloting through the Alliance and Reaver ships, I started to lose the ability to breathe properly. Then in the moments before he was killed, I lost it. I had to turn away and almost crawled under my seat to cry. In the thereafter, my whole body was trembling so badly I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't even take notes for a while because my hand wouldn't grip the pen.
• Actual written notes at this point:
- "I can't right!" (should have been "write" of course)
- "I hate you, Whedon."
- "This is the worst moment of my life."
- "I don't like this movie anymore!"
• This is how you make me feel inside, Whedon --
+ Ouch!! It's one thing to be shot in the back, but then to come crashing down on the bars and such. *clings to Mal*
+ I hate you, Whedon! You just can't stop whumping people! *cries*
+ Mal defeats Sword Guy.
+ River is really Buffy in disguise!
+ Mal's bloody eye is so freakin' awesome.
+ The funeral service -- denial: wibbling: anguish:
+ O-o-o, I just saw a nice shot of Nathan's butt pants! Shut up, I'm emotionally distraught, let me have my happy moments.
+ Mal to Zoe: "Will she hold?" Right there, he could either be talking about Serenity or Zoe. I like to believe he was, in his own way, asking Zoe how she was dealing.
+ Random cryage -- WASH!!!!! WHYYYY?!
+ Mal: "All you need is love. Twe love!"
+ Dinosaurs!! They weren't there before. Someone had to have put those there!! EDIT: Maybe they were there the whole time, I thought I just saw the trees. Either way, they're still there. Awwwww!!
+ This smiley has nothing to do with the movie, but it makes me insanely happy.

Final Thoughts: I hate you, Whedon. Goodbye, Wash.

*hugclings*

I want to see it again but I have to wait for forever. This is torture. And it will be even worse when I have to see it in the German dubbing.
