The End to the "Harry Potter" Saga

Come July 21, I'm going on hiatus from LJ for as long as it takes. Why? Because being spoiled really pisses me off. And I don't like to be pissed off. Thus, it's best for everyone if I don't get spoiled.

Why don't I want to be spoiled for Harry Potter particularly? Because it's the only series of books I've been genuinely excited about. Ever. At first, I refused to read them because everyone and their brother were spazzing out about them. I don't like it when something is advertised and exposed so much it seems to be the only thing out there because it's like someone is telling me what to like, and I don't like being told what to do. (This is also why I've never seen Titanic and am only recently able to actually look at Leonardo DiCaprio without cringing.) But after seeing the first movie, I was awestruck and chose to read them. *pets them*

So yes, I'm one of those people who is going to disappear because of a book. Don't like it? Deal with it or de-friend me.

I've falled back in love with Leo recently, cause boy's got talent.

With you on the spoilerific sucktasticness of HP fandom. Run away for as long as it takes, you know half the people on your flist are going to do the same thing, right?

Where did all my HP icons go? (Oh well, uses Doctor Who instead, after all it did make Ten cry. *g*)

Let them laugh. I don't care. M laughs at my obsession with HP and I'm ok with that. Without passion life would be meaningless.

Just remember that the people who are laughing at us are the ones who follow everything people like Paris Hilton do and stuff like that.

Ten is special. (I forget, have you seen all of series 3 or are you watching it on sci-fi?)

I'm totally quoting Angel from that ep of Buffy where Ms. C dies but it's totally valid! *nods* See sometimes I have great wisdom and stuff. *g*

Yay! *uses sort of spoilery icon*

then you better leave LJ now cause spoilers are out there.

It's understandable. You gotta do what you gotta do.

I didn't read the HP books at first either. I chose to go straight for the movies, b/c, I wanted to do it backwards, actually. Then, when I did read the books and re-watched the movies, I didn't understand how everyone got so mad b/c the movies weren't EXACTLY how the books were. :shakes head:

I dig the movies, just as much as the books. I'm hoping to not be spoiled myself. I'm being very very careful...

Good luck!! I'll be here when you get back, b/c honestly, I've got nothing else planned for my dull existence! :grins:

I hear ya...I won't start reading it til Sunday though. :( I promised Nick I wouldn't read it while he was visiting. I'm somewhat wary of reading it while at the airport though...that's just asking for spoilery. :\

good luck staying unspoiled!

I'm with you. I know the epilogue has already been leaked, but I've been carefully avoiding spoilers for now. To be on the safe side, I won't be online from July 20th until I've finished the novel (which shouldn't take too long since I'll buy it at midnight on July 21st), so I totaly understand where you're coming from. It's the only way to avoid spoilers. I managed to stay spoiler free for the end of Angel and Studio 60, but Harry Potter is too huge to avoid spoilers. They'll find you.

Over here, it's especially tricky, since most Germans will wait for the German version of the book (which'll be released several months from now), and I can't see how they'll avoid being spoiled when the rest of the world already knows the ending and isn't aware of that.

I won't defriend you. *hugs*

Ditto. I have avoided the HP sites like the plague and de-friended the HP comm long ago because the teenies and tweenies tend to talk the book/movie to death. I didn't buy HP1 until 3 years after it came out and appreciated it all the more then.

We shall stay spoiler-free!

Will you be buying the book though on the 21st and reading well into the night, never stopping until you finish? Me, I will have to share it with my daughter so it wil be another 2 weeks or so before I get my hands on it.

I have sworn off just about all of my usual internet haunts, for fear of spoilers. Granted, I'm working too much this week to even spend that much time online, but I'm being extra-careful, especially since I got spoiled by a troll last time.

This reminds me: a couple of weeks ago, I was sitting in the mall food court during my lunch break and reading my UK copy of Half-Blood Prince. And this woman comes flying at me from out of nowhere and is all, "WHERE DID YOU GET -- oh. That's not the new book." Honey, if I did have an advance copy of Deathly Hallows, I sure as hell wouldn't be sitting in a mall food court reading it.
