Horror Behind the Cabinet
June 15th, 2007 10:37 pmSince graduation, I've been trying to get my room in order. Now that I don't have a dorm to go back to, I have to find a permanent place for all my extra stuff. Today, Mom and I started moving furniture around so we could fit in a dresser we just refinished. Little did we know what we'd find behind that cabinet...

OMG, it's killer mold of DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
A leak in the roof has damaged a whole wall in my room. Now my sanctuary, my safe place has been overrun by the very thing that could potentially kill me. I only just had surgery last year to restore my seriously-compromised breathing through my nose, and affliction caused by a severe allergy to fungus. Lord only knows how long the mold has been on my wall, so it could very well be a significant cause to why it came to surgery.
Needless to say, this revelation scared the heck out of me. I don't know if I'm allergic to this specific type of mold, but it still gives me the heebie jeebies. Mom quickly cleaned the wall with bleach and hopefully killed the mold, but the wall has water damage from ceiling to floor, so it will have to be replaced. I was ready to have my room finished, but now it'll take weeks or months. *facepalm*
Recap:
Roof leak in room ---> mold
Mold could ---> very sick Sarah
Thus, room = very scary place...
I'm not sure if I can sleep in my room ever again!
