Finally, it's time for my Scotland lowdown! First off, as usual, here is my journal about much of what I did...

-- July 28, 2006 --

Original departure date. We -- 11 members of my family, including me -- were meant to leave for Scotland and meet up with two other family members and the other half of the tour group, but the airline canceled our flight. The other two family members left from a different city, so they got to Scotland on time. We, however, have to wait two days for another flight. We are very unhappy ducks.

-- July 30, 2006 --

3:00 AM: I still want to gnaw on the airline.

I took a sleep aid at 7:30 last night so I would actually sleep, so I'm not responsible for how easily amused I am right now.

6:15 AM: OMG, I'm actually on a plane. We have to go to Houston, then to Newark, and then Glasgow. I think it's a bit silly we have to fly halfway across the U.S. and then go back in the direction we came just to go north. Crazy airline.

8:10 AM: Hello, Texas. *waves to Shroomy*

I'm having Taco Bell for breakfast because my tummy thinks it's lunchtime already. I like the silly, random quotations on the sauce packages. This one says, "Bike tires scare me." Hee.

7:50 PM: We're on the plane to Scotland! And I have pilot wings. *smug*

-- July 31, 2006 --

8:00 AM: Yeay, I'm actually in Scotland. Now, dear, God, let me off this plane!

9:00 AM: We now have to meet up with the other half of the tour group, so we're on a wee coach. The driver sounds just like Carson Beckett! I guess that means Carson is from around these parts? :D

TOUR COMPANY: "Let's see how many ways we can make Sarah sick. Three planes, a bus on windy roads, and a ferry? Brilliant!" Oy.

O-o-o, our new coach driver is Irish. *g* We went to the Isle of Skye. We also saw Loch Ness, and I had my picture taken with Nessie!

5:50 PM: We're now at our hotel in Inverness. They have tea and shortbread cookies in the rooms; I like this place already. :)

-- August 1, 2006 --

9:00 AM: It's official: European showers hate me. We're now on our way to Cawdor Castle, famed for being "where Macbeth lived."

We saw pretty gardens, and I found a wee Scottish frog! Eeee!

12:30 PM: We visited the Glen Ord Whiskey Distillery. It rained a lot. After our tour, they handed out samples of their Whiskey. I was brave and actually tried some, and in doing so, I believe I've secured my preference to stay away from alcohol for the rest of my life. Yuck!

We stopped at a place to shop and then came back to Inverness to walk around. It rained a lot.

8:30 PM: After dinner, we walked along the river a bit. It rained a lot. Now I'm having hot chocolate and shortbread. Mmmm.

-- August 2, 2006 --

Whoa, cracktastic dreams last night. I dreamt David Tennant was going around and meeting his fans like crazy. He was bouncing around, signing every little scrap of paper, and posing for pictures. It was fun.

8:00 AM: We're now leaving Inverness. My aunt Amy bought me a Red Bull because I apparently look droopy. I've never had one before, so we'll see how it goes.

We stopped in St. Andrews. Saw a golf course that's apparently famous, cathedral ruins, and the coast of the North Sea. Now, we're off to Edinburgh. It rained a lot! And it's cold.

Hee, SG-1 is on!

Just before dinner, I was accosted by three tall men with pretty accents. They wanted to ask me questions regarding the weather, and since I had somehow gotten separated from my group, no one was there to save me! As it turns out, they were part of a hidden camera show on Channel 4. I didn't catch the name of the show, but if any of you guys know anything, let me know! If they used my footage, keep an eye out for a girl in a green raincoat during the week of August 14. I'll likely be the one who looks most confused. ;)

-- August 3, 2006 --

Today we toured Edinburgh, new and old. We saw the Queen's residence and the castle. At the castle, a canon is fired everyday at 1:00 PM, and we were there when it went off. It startled me even though I was expecting it. Sheesh!

After lunch, I geeked out at Forbidden Planet and found some things the store in London didn't have when I was there. I got a sonic screwdriver. *g* (Donna, they had the Regeneration Set!)

Now, I'm chillin' in the hotel room so my legs will stop screaming.

4:00 PM: We went to the Scott Memorial and climbed to the top. Nearly there, I remembered I'm acrophobic and claustrophobic and wondered why the hell I was doing this! But I made it down safely somehow.

While doing a bit of shopping, we saw the place where J. K. Rowling wrote the first Harry Potter book. Hee!

House is on! The European theme song is weird to me. And the characters all sound like they're on helium! It's amusing.

-- August 4, 2006 --

8:00 AM: Time to go home. Alas.

10:00 AM: Edinburgh Airport. Holy cow, someone is giving away DVDs, and one of them is a Christopher Eccleston movie! *yoink*

5:00 PM: The Newark Airport is pretty much my least favorite place in the world right now. *headdesk*

8:00 PM: Last plane! It's a wee plane; it's totally a Puddle Jumper. *g*

11:50 PM: After a relatively short drive, I'm home. YEAY!! Sleep time now.

-- August 5, 2006 --

I think I gained 8 pounds on the shortbread alone. No, really.

Pictures will follow sometime soon.

jdfjsafdjs Am also very jealous of your sonic screwdriver. I'm at least ordering the Regeneration Set from the website once I have the cash.

!!! Isn't it a Chinese restaurant, now?

Aw, thanks for thinking of me, anyways. And just so you know, I'm living in Dothan. It's two hours south of Montgomery. Mostly known for peanuts, apparently.

I WANT!

Anyway, sounds like you had fun. XD If you find out that you ended up on that show on Channel 4, you should see if you can get someone to put it online. XD

Dude, I wonder if teh mother would let me...

Yeah, I've really got no clue. Maine is a tad bit closer to Scotland than where you are, but not by much.

You can change your format on your compy a total of three times. So you could change it to the right region, then change it back.

You skimped on details but I suppose the pics will make up for it.
Sounds like you had tons of fun, but weather wasn't cooperating all the time. That's the UK for ya!
