This is my new baby, Rosie.
Last week, my mom told me about a lady she works with having a puppy that needed a home. The lady's husband found the pup injured after being hit by a car, so he took her to see a vet. She has a slightly fractured pelvis, but after a week of love and care by the couple, she's almost as good as new. A few days ago, I went to their house to meet the pup, and it was pretty much love at first sight. So, I brought her home, gave her a name, and have been loving on her ever since. :)

Rosie (right) meets Bonnie (left), the family pet. Rosie wants to play, but Bonnie is not amused. (She's 14 years old, I don't blame her!) I plan to bring Rosie with me when I get my own place, so they just need to tolerate each other until then. And so far, my fish don't appear jealous. *g*
I can only guess as to what her original owners were like, but I don't think they were pleasant. She may have even been abused or simply got lost and didn't find her way home, but I hope she can put that past her. She seems to like me so far, at least.

I haven't played with her heavily yet since she is still recovering, but she'll have a good ol' time soon enough. Until then, she is having play dates with Bill, my aunt's dog next door.
For the past few days, I've mostly been observing her mannerisms. She's rather timid; it took a whole afternoon just to coax her in the house. She likes to give her peoples kisses. She likes to nibble on fingers, toes, and faces if given the chance; but we know she's only playing. She has no problem when I touch her food, but she guards it with passion when Bonnie comes anywhere near it. SHE DOES NOT LIKE CATS; in fact, she runs away, crying, if they come near her. *g*

Also, she seems to like catching grasshoppers and forcing them to play with her. *g*
The vet believes she's about five months old. So far, she seems to be acclimating to her new abode, so I anticipate keeping her for the long run. *crosses fingers* It's almost disconcerting how similar our personalities are, but I'll just take that as meaning we were meant for each other. :)
Now, excuse me while I keep Rosie from chewing on an extension cord and electrocuting herself...
:P
EDIT: I think I've decided she is a mix of Border Collie and either Rat or Jack Russell Terrier. *pinches her cheeks*

Date: June 2nd, 2007 02:59 am (UTC)Life's okay. I've been trying to find a place for all of my dorm stuff; it's not easy. And I should have started looking for a job by now, but I've been distracted by the pup. :P
How are you?! *hugs* I miss everyone.
