Didn't they mention the not being able to undo the ageing process somewhere in Season 1.
In "The Defiant One," McKay told Gaul that they didn't know if the change in appearance was permanent. And unfortunately, we never got to find out because Gaul... you know. So, for me, this ep answers that question.
