"Branching" Out

I'm taking a 3-D design class this semester, thus I have another sculpture to squee about...

Yes, it's a snake. Surprised? It got a "Wow!" out of my teacher, so I imagine he liked it. :)

It was sculpted in modeling clay, textured with a toothpick, and then painted with acrylic. Its tongue is made from a satin ribbon. The whole piece is about the same size as my last snake sculpture.

The assignment was to "show one thing turning into something else." I like to call this piece Paradise Lost, though I've also considered Wounded, Licking His Wounds, and WTH?! You Cut Down My Freakin' Tree. Hee.

Because the snake is freckled, I think I'll call him Jensen. :D
